I was born in a small pit, surrounded by the tall brick walls,
All I could see was the vast blue sky above my head,
My existence wasn’t a necessity, I suppose,
As the wild and the tamed tried shaking me off,
But I held stronger and shot my roots deeper,
As I wanted my existence to be needed!
I held on to my soil as I grew chasing the heights of the wall,
While my roots shot deeper till it touched the waters below,
With the sun above and water below,
I could grow stronger and taller than any of the brick walls, I thought.
My stems were weak. It could not hold me tall,
So, I entwined them, standing stronger than any at all,
Sky was my limit, and nothing could stop me, I thought,
But once I crossed the tall walls, a new world unlocked.
Before me was a scenery I had never witnessed before,
A vast horizon of green land or was it a velvety stage,
People were walking and talking, while kids playing and laughing,
The birds were chirping and flying. It all blended along.
It made me happy, and maybe I smiled a little,
Because I noticed I bloomed my first pink flower,
I spread my entwined bark over the hedges,
May be to rest myself and enjoy a little.
Soon, I had no leaves but was filled with flowers,
So much that the brick wall was fully covered,
The birds and squirrels made me their home,
While kids and adults looked at me with awe.
I was there for the first time as a center of attraction,
Everyone enjoyed my very existence,
It was at that moment of realization,
I realized this was my destination.
